Lakehead Source Protection Committee (SPC)

The Lakehead Source Protection Committee is responsible for overseeing a science-based planning process to develop a Source Protection Plan (SPP) to protect sources of Municipal drinking water in the Lakehead Source Protection Area. The local plan (SPP) will cover the source water supply for the Municipal drinking water systems at Bare Point (City of Thunder Bay) and Rosslyn Village (Municipality of Oliver Paipoonge).

SPC Chair 

Lucy Kloosterhuis is the Chair of the Lakehead Source Protection Committee appointed by the Minister of Environment Conservation and Parks.  Lucy Kloosterhuis is one of 19 Source Protection Committee Chairs in the province, first appointed chair on September 24, 2019. Reappointed October 19, 2022 to August 20, 2025.

SPC Members

The Lakehead Source Protection Committee is made up of six Members and three Liaison Members. The composition of the Source Protection Committee follows the structure mandated by O. Reg 288/07 under the Clean Water Act, 2006.

The Lakehead Source Protection Authority (SPA) appointed the six voting Members to the Lakehead Source Protection Committee on November 30, 2021 for a term of 5 years.
