Raising Funds For Conservation
The Lakehead Conservation Foundation (LCF) is a non-profit corporation. They have helped improve facilities at many of our conservation areas including Mission Island Marsh, Little Trout Bay and Cascades. A pavilion, interpretive displays, trail maps, washrooms and a handicap-accessible trail loop are just a few projects they were involved in.
The LCF and LRCA co-host the annual Conservation Dinner & Auction each year, which is the main fundraising effort of the LCF. The event is typically held the first Thursday in February. It consists of a gala dinner, Live and Silent Auctions and other draws. It is generously supported by local businesses and organizations through the donation of auction items, the purchasing of tickets, etc. Be sure to check regularly for updates on this, and other events.
The Lakehead Conservation Foundation was formed by concerned citizens in the community with the following objectives:
- To aid, promote and give assistance to the Lakehead Region Conservation Authority's (LRCA) conservation and recreation land management program;
- To promote the practice of conservation; and
- To enhance the education of people with respect to proper management of natural resources.
