COVID-19 Update 2
Due to the evolving COVID-19 pandemic and in consideration of the well-being of our many partners, volunteers and staff, the Lakehead Region Conservation Authority (LRCA) is responding with the following current changes in operations and programming:
- Pennock Creek Floodplain Mapping Update Open House scheduled for March 18, 2020 is cancelled. Written and verbal comments will continue to be accepted.
- Mosquito Creek Floodplain Mapping Update Open House scheduled for March 19, 2020 is cancelled. Written and verbal comments will continue to be accepted.
- All school programming is cancelled until April 6, 2020.
- The LRCA's March 25, 2020 Board Meeting has been cancelled.
Program and Service Updates:
- ***UPDATE*** The LRCA Administrative Office located at 130 Conservation Road, Thunder Bay, is now CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. If you require staff assistance, please contact us via email (info@lakeheadca.com) or telephone (807-344-5857). Thank you for your cooperation.
- All essential services including the LRCA’s Flood Forecasting and Warning operations remain active.
- All Conservation Areas remain open to the public.
We will continue to monitor the developing situation and will respond accordingly. Updates will be posted as warranted.

Open House Cancellations
CANCELLED – Public Open House for Pennock Creek Floodplain Mapping Update Study on Wednesday, March 18, 2020
CANCELLED – Public Open House for Mosquito Creek Floodplain Mapping Update Study on Thursday, March 19, 2020
The Lakehead Region Conservation Authority (LRCA) has cancelled the Public Open Houses that were scheduled for Wednesday, March 18, 2020 and Thursday, March 19, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at its Administrative Office regarding the recently completed Pennock Creek Floodplain Mapping Update Study and the Mosquito Creek Floodplain Mapping Update Study.
Additional information on the studies can be found HERE. Staff will continue to accept comments from the public until April 9, 2020 by email, fax, mail, or telephone.

Program and Service Updates:
- The LRCA Administrative Office located at 130 Conservation Road, Thunder Bay is open for business as usual (8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, closed from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. for lunch). While the LRCA Administrative Office will remain open for business as usual, residents are urged to use telephone or email to contact staff unless it is absolutely necessary for in-person service.
- All essential services including the LRCA’s Flood Forecasting and Warning operations remain active.
- All Conservation Areas remain open to the public.
