Sparkling waters, a rugged landscape, and a tree-clad coastline await you at the Little Trout Bay Conservation Area.
The Conservation Area has both a concrete boat launch and an EZ Dock kayak launch to provide public access to Lake Superior south of the City of Thunder Bay. Little Trout Bay and the surrounding waters provide excellent fishing for salmon, pickerel, whitefish, rainbow trout, and lake trout.
On-shore activities include picnic facilities and a short looping hiking trail that takes visitors through the forested shoreline.
In partnership with the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC), the LRCA’s Lookout Trail connects to the NCC’s James Duncan Nature Trail and Big Trout Bay Nature Reserve.
The technical hike takes visitors to spectacular cliffside views of Little and Big Trout Bay. (Note: one-way hike duration, between north and south parking lots, including spur trail, is 4 to 5 hours).
