WINTER TRAIL CHALLENGE

The Lakehead Region Conservation Authority (LRCA), with support from UpRiver Running, invite you to a run/walk challenge on the 7 kilometres of trails at Hazelwood Lake Conservation Area.

The event takes place at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, December 6, 2020. 

This fun, participation focused, fundraising nature learning challenge will get you outdoors and feeling healthy all while getting comfortable with winter running/walking on the great trails at Hazelwood Lake.  Run as part of a small group or on your own to visit 5 interactive learning stations.

The best part? Your registration includes a $30.00 +HST 2021 Explore Card Parking Pass! This provides you with free parking access to all 8 Conservation Areas and two publicly-accessible Forest Management Properties owned, operated and maintained by the LRCA for the entirety of 2021.  The $2.00 parking fee for the December 6th event day is also included in your registration.

Draw prizes for those who attend will be provided by the LRCA, UpRiver Running and a pair of running shoes from Fresh Air.

All Public Health Guidelines regarding COVID-19 will be enforced. Registration available to the first 70 participants. Registration fee is $35.00 +HST per person.

All COVID-19 precautions surrounding physical distancing and wearing a mask where adequate physical distancing is not possible are MANDATORY. By participating in this event, you agree to follow the LRCA's and UpRiver Running's instructions in this regard.  

If you have travelled outside of Northwestern Ontario during the last 14 days, if you have come into contact with anyone who has (or is suspected as having) COVID-19, or if you are feeling unwell or are exhibiting any of the symptoms associated with COVID-19, you are asked not to attend the event. 

By registering for this event you are responsible for coming prepared, including wearing proper footwear and adequate clothing for the elements, and bringing sufficient water and food, etc.  

Visitors to a Conservation Area acknowledge and understand the risks associated with visiting and recreating at the Area, including but not limited to: weather, trip hazards, wildlife, insects, actions of other people, the inherent risks associated with participating in various activities while on Lakehead Region Conservation Authority (LRCA) property and operators of motor vehicles around the parking area. Being aware of these hazards, visitors voluntarily elect to fully accept and assume all risks and responsibility for any injury, loss and/or damage to persons or property that incur as a result of visiting and recreating at the Area. The Lakehead Region Conservation Authority (LRCA) and UpRiver Running are not responsible, nor held liable, for any injury, loss and/or damage to persons or property incurred by visitors to a Conservation Area. 

Please note that the event will be cancelled if the temperature is colder than -25 degrees Celsius and/or if the winds are deemed unsafe, if there are blizzard-like conditions, torrential rain or icy and unsafe trail conditions. As this is a fundraising event, refunds will not be issued, however all paying participants will still receive an Explore Card Parking Pass. 

Dogs must be ON-LEASH at all times while in a Conservation Area, including while on the trails, no exceptions.
