Guided Winter Birding Hike

February 12 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

The Great Backyard Bird Count is coming up Feb 14-16!  All across North America, people are showing their love for birds by submitting their observations to fuel powerful bird conservation action.  Are you curious how your observations can make a difference?

Bring your binoculars, or borrow some of ours, and join us for a guided bird walk through Wishart Conservation Area – we will walk slowly along a 2km loop (this nature trail is fairly level), using eyes and ears to identify birds – hopefully a boreal chickadee, some winter finches, and maybe even some of the rarer woodpeckers of the boreal forest.

Bring all your questions about winter birds and birding, including how to scientifically count and record bird observations and submit them to eBird or Birds Canada’s NatureCounts for the Great Backyard Bird Count on the weekend!

Bring a mug, dress for the weather (warm layers are best, and sturdy footwear) and any equipment you may need for walking in snow (snowshoes, walking poles).

This free event is sponsored by the Government of Ontario.

NOTE: There are no washrooms present at Wishart Conservation Area.

ALLERGY ALERT:  Tree seeds, peanuts or other nuts are present at the bird feeders.
