The Lakehead Region Conservation Authority (LRCA) will be hosting a Public Open House on May 7, 2019 at 7:00 pm regarding the recently completed Neebing River Watershed Wetland Study. The LRCA engaged the services of Northern Bioscience Ecological Consulting to evaluate the wetlands within the Neebing River Watershed, which identified and confirmed the boundary of 3,644 hectares of existing wetlands within the LRCA Area of Jurisdiction.

A presentation from Northern Bioscience will occur at 7 pm.  The study report and maps will be available for viewing at the Open House, and LRCA staff and Northern Bioscience will be available to answer any questions related to the Study.

The evaluated wetland boundaries including a 30 metre buffer will be incorporated in the City of Thunder Bay, Geographic Township of McIntyre, Screening Map-4 and in the Municipality of Oliver Paipoonge, Geographic Township of Oliver, Screening Map-2, which depict the Approximate Regulated Area.  Screening Maps are used by the Lakehead Region Conservation Authority in the administration of Ontario Regulation 97/04-180/06:  Development, Interference with Wetlands and Alterations to Shorelines and Watercourses.  Development within this area will require a permit from the Authority.
