ENGAGING SENIORS IN THE OUTDOORS

The Lakehead Region Conservation Authority (LRCA) is once again proud to offer our popular Engaging Seniors in the Outdoors Program. These complimentary programs are possible thanks to the generous support of the TD Friends of the Environment Foundation. These workshops, some of which may feature guest speakers, are designed for older adults who can comfortably walk for one hour at a gentle pace. You don't have to be a senior to participate, though, as all programs are family friendly!

WHERE:

Meet at the LRCA Administrative Office at 130 Conservation Road; some workshops will feature busing to Conservation Areas

TIME:

9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. (times may vary)

Thursday, May 26th- Birding at Hurkett Cove
Friday, June 10th- Orchids & Wildflowers at Mills Block
Thursday, July 28th- Rocks of Thunder Bay
Thursday, August 25th- GPS & Geocaching
Thursday, September 29th- Trees of Hazelwood Lake
Thursday, October 6th- Hill’s Greenhouse Tour

2016 TREE SEEDLING ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

The 2016 Private Landowners Tree Seedling Assistance Program is launching on Friday, April 1st, 2016 at the CLE Home & Garden Show! Be sure to visit the LRCA display in the SportsDome to pick up your order form. Please note that order forms will NOT be made available prior to 4:30 p.m. on April 1st. Order forms will also be made available on our website and at our Administrative Office at 130 Conservation Road beginning Monday, April 4th.

Tree Seedling Pick Up Day is scheduled for Wednesday, May 18th at Hill's Greenhouse from 9:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.

2016 CONSERVATION DINNER & AUCTION A SUCCESS!

The 2016 Conservation Dinner & Auction was held on Thursday, February 11th, 2016 at The Da Vinci Centre. The event was a great success, and raised over $18,000.00 in NET PROFIT! This money will be spent locally, in support of the Lakehead Region Conservation Authority's (LRCA) Environmental Education and Living Classroom Programs.

The Lakehead Conservation Foundation (LCF) and LRCA would like to thank the generous donations from the many organizations, businesses and individuals that contributed to our event. We would also like to that everyone who attended.
